چکیده

Alkene selective oxidation is of major technological importance since alkene epoxides are versatile chemical intermediates used in the manufacture of a wide range of commodity and fine chemicals. The reaction itself is mechanistically very interesting and it has attracted a lot of the academic interest over many years. Various models have been proposed in order to explain why the reaction is apparently unique to silver surfaces. It was originally thought that adsorbed dioxygen, unique to silver, was the epoxidizing species. Recent UHV and reactor studies have proved that this hypothesis is wrong: in fact, atomically adsorbed oxygen is responsible for both epoxidation and combustion products.

Interaction of atomic hydrogen with monometallic Au(100), Cu(100), Pt(100) surfaces and surface of bimetallic Au@Cu(100), Au@Pt(100) overlayer systems: The role of magnetism

The spin-polarized calculations in generalized gradient approximation density–functional theory (GGA–DFT) have been used to show how the existence of second metals can modify the atomic hydrogen adsorption on Au (100), Cu (100), and Pt (100) surfaces. The computed adsorption energies for the atomic hydrogen adsorbed at the surface coverage of 0.125 ML (monolayer) for the monometallic Au (100), ...

Experimental and Theoretical Studies on Oxidation of Cu-Au Alloy Surfaces: Effect of Bulk Au Concentration

We report results of our experimental and theoretical studies on the oxidation of Cu-Au alloy surfaces, viz., Cu3Au(111), CuAu(111), and Au3Cu(111), using hyperthermal O2 molecular beam (HOMB). We observed strong Au segregation to the top layer of the corresponding clean (111) surfaces. This forms a protective layer that hinders further oxidation into the bulk. The higher the concentration of A...

Metal (Cu, Au)-modified silicon nanowires for high-selectivity solvent-free hydrocarbon oxidation in air.

Metal (Au, Cu)-modified Si nanowires (SiNWs) are superior catalysts for selective oxidation of hydrocarbons, while SiNWs are a powerful substrate support (enhance efficiency and selectivity) for nanocatalysts.

1 Effect of Selected Factors on Catalytic Activity of 2 Bimetallic Copper - Gold Catalysts in Selective 3 Oxidation of Glycerol 4

A current problem in petrochemical industry is the elimination of crude glycerol which is 11 the by-product of biodiesel production obtained during the transesterification of vegetable oils and 12 animal fats. In this work are presented the results of characterisation of mesoporous ceria, zirconia 13 and mixed cerium-zirconium oxide modified with gold and/or copper species and their application...

Activity of Cu-Co-M (M= Ce, Ni, Au, Mg) catalysts prepared by coprecipitation method, calcined at high temperature for CO oxidation

The present study deals with analysis of the activity of catalysts prepared by addition of different metals to Copper and Cobalt based catalysts for CO oxidation and the variation in activity caused by changes in composition. A series of catalysts were prepared with Cu:Co molar ratio 1:4 and a third metal (M= Ce, Ni, Au, Mg) was added in three different quantities. Compositions were prepared by...
